Marin, Calif. — The Santa Rosa Junior College beach volleyball team delivered a strong showing on the sand, picking up two dual victories with wins over West Valley College and Lassen College. The Bear Cubs showcased depth and resilience across the lineup, earning key points in tightly contested matches and sweeping others in straight sets.
Against West Valley, SRJC secured the dual with three wins. At the No. 1 pair, Katie Davis andLily Comma battled to a hard-fought (24–22, 21–14) victory to set the tone. Stephanie Melendez and Nyejzniya Krohn followed with a convincing (21–14, 21–11) win, while Issa McIninch and Eve Mendoza earned a forfeit victory to clinch the dual. Despite tough efforts from Amber Smart and Luka Amand, and Lily Seidler and Kiana Walker, the Bear Cubs' balance across flights proved decisive.
SRJC carried that momentum into the matchup with Lassen, earning another dual win highlighted by clutch performances and poise in pressure moments. Katie Davis and Lily Comma delivered a thrilling three-set win (21–18, 20–22, 17–15) at the topflight, while Amber Smart and Luka Amand posted a strong straight-set victory (21–9, 21–18). Stephanie Melendez and Nyejzniya Krohn, and Issa McIninch and Eve Mendoza both swept their matches, sealing the dual and underscoring SRJC's depth throughout the lineup.
With the two wins, the Bear Cubs are now 4-0 in preseason play and continue to build confidence early in the season. They head to San Mateo next on Friday, February 13th, for another preseason matchup.
