Ryan Affleck brings deep roots in the Sonoma County volleyball community and a lifelong commitment to developing the sport at every level. His coaching journey began in 2005, when he helped launch the boys’ volleyball program at Willowside Middle School, and continued in 2006 as he established the program at El Molino High School. While there, Ryan led the team to an MCAL Finals championship during his junior year and a runner-up finish as a senior, earning First Team All-League honors along the way.
Ryan’s connection to Santa Rosa Junior College runs deep. As a student-athlete, he founded the SRJC Men’s Volleyball Club program, competing at the Division II level in the NCCVL. Under his leadership, the team earned a bid to the NCVF National Tournament in just its second year, finishing with a Silver medal. Ryan was also recognized as a First Team All-League selection before transferring to UC Davis, where he continued to compete at a high level with the Division I club team. At UC Davis, he earned additional First Team All-League honors and helped guide the program to a fifth-place national finish his senior year.
After graduating, Ryan transitioned seamlessly into coaching, leading the UC Davis Men’s Division I club team for two seasons before taking over the Women’s Division I club program for another two years. During this time, he founded the Colberg Classic tournament, honoring the legacy of Gary Colberg while creating meaningful competitive opportunities for collegiate, alumni, and semi-professional teams across California.
Now back in Santa Rosa, Ryan brings his experience as a player, program builder, and coach to the SRJC Beach Volleyball program. His background in grassroots development, competitive leadership, and beach competition, along with his continued involvement in CBVA tournaments, makes him a valuable asset in building a strong, student-centered, and competitive beach volleyball culture at SRJC.
