For their third road game in a row, the Bear Cubs (15-3, 5-1) spent over three hours on a bus with their men's team to Modesto to battle the Pirates (11-7, 3-3). On the opening jump ball Jordan Washington tipped the ball to Elle Picard, who caught the ball and took a couple of dribbles before passing ahead to a streaking Kaia Eubanks for a layup. Ninety seconds later Eubanks passed to Washington next to the basket for a 1-footer. Izabella Sanchez drew a shooting foul and put the Pirates' first two points on the scoreboard. Caitlin Baldwin's 3-pointer and Picard's give-and-go basket off of Eubanks' pass put the Bear Cubs ahead 9-2 at the 6:06 mark. Taylor Macias scored the Pirates' first field goal 24 seconds after that. Eubanks was successful on a drive, Macias made one free throw, Washington banked in an offensive rebound basket, and Alessandra Montes made one free throw with 2:34 on the clock, making the Bear Cubs' lead 13-6. Montes tied the game with 1:38 to go. After a Bear Cub miss, the Pirates tried to get the ball to a post player, but Eubanks intercepted the pass and drove down towards their basket. She missed the pressured layup, then Washington grabbed the offensive rebound and was fouled on the putback attempt. She again made both free throws with 50 seconds on the clock for a 51-49 lead. It only took 10 seconds for the Pirates to tie the score at 51-51 on Montes' basket. Kaia Eubanks was fouled on a shot attempt near the hoop and made both free throws for a 53-51 advantage with 22 seconds left. The Pirates' next shot was off target. The Bear Cubs rebounded, and Eubanks passed to the front court. The Pirates tried to trap, and instead of forcing a turnover, they fouled. Taylor Macias was also called for a technical foul for her reaction to the official's ruling. With 10 seconds remaining Jordan Washington shot and made four free throws. The Bear Cubs retained possession of the ball, and the game ended with the Bear Cubs pulling off a 57-51 victory.
