For their third game in five days, the Bear Cubs (13-3, 3-1) traveled to Rocklin to take on the Wolverines (12-4, 2-2) of Sierra College. Caitlin Baldwin took the first shot of the contest and drained the 3-pointer. The Wolverines made their first shot, a 2-pointer. Eight seconds later Jordan Washington banked in a 1-footer on a baseline inbounds pass from Elle Picard. The Wolverines made two field goals in less than a minute to take a 6-5 lead. After over three minutes of scoreless play, Jalaysia Clements scored off an offensive rebound. Sydney Martin drew a shooting foul and made just the second free throw. Izzy Deveraux swished a 3-pointer at the 4:15 mark, and so did Caitlin Baldwin 15 seconds later, making the Wolverines' margin 11-9. During the next two minutes, Washington and Kaia Eubanks each made two free throws, while Jessie Slade made a field goal and Ashlyn Greenfield a 3-pointer for a 16-13 margin. Brooklynn Nordquist sank a field goal, and then Washington drove from the wing and tossed in the one-handed pull-up shot with 1:33 left. Nordquist's 3-pointer just before the buzzer widened the Wolverines' advantage to 21-15.
The Bear Cubs scored the first three points of the second quarter on one free throw by Abby Tacla and Jordan Washington's putback of her own miss. Jessie Slade banked in a layup at the 7:41 mark. After Tacla drew another shooting foul and this time made both free throws, Mayci Ball sank a shot from beyond the arc to get their lead back up to five points at 26-20. Sydney Martin made two free throws and Jalaysia Clement a field goal with 5:06 on the clock. The Bear Cubs finished the period with a 12-0 run on Shasta Vlasak's 3-pointer, Washington's layup after Vlasak helped break the full-court pressure, Washington's 1-footer off of Vlasak's assist, Tacla's 3-point play on a drive, and Martin's cut to the basket and assist from Elle Picard to take a 34-28 lead by halftime.
Brooklynn Nordquist took the first shot of the third quarter and swished the 3-pointer. Caitlin Baldwin drew a shooting foul and made just the first free throw. Mayci Ball drained a 3-pointer on the Wolverines' next possession. Sydney Martin was successful on a low post reverse pivot move. About 90 seconds later Jessie Slade sank a field goal. Baldwin swished a 3-pointer, and then so did Nordquist. Izzy Deveraux's single free throw at the 4:16 mark tied the score at 40-40. The Bear Cubs retook the lead for good when Elle Picard sank both of her free throws 13 seconds later. During the remainder of the period, the Wolverines just made two out of four free throws, while the Bear Cubs tallied 12 points on four free throws by Jordan Washington, Hailey Webb's drive, Kaia Eubanks' putback of her own miss, her 1-footer off of Picard's assist, and Webb's left-handed drive to surge ahead 54-42.
Jordan Washington's drive that finished with a 2-footer started the scoring in the fourth quarter. Brooklynn Nordquist added four points on a pair of free throws and a basket at the 7:48 mark. Over a minute later Washington took a couple of dribbles and then tossed in a 2-footer. The next time down, Kaia Eubanks banked in a 1-footer off a baseline inbounds pass from Elle Picard. Allie Hayes' 3-pointer with 5:36 on the clock cut their deficit to 49-60. Twenty-five seconds later Jordan Washington was fouled near the hoop and made both of her free throws. With 3:45 remaining Sydney Martin spotted Abby Tacla cutting to the basket and passed the ball to her for a layup and a 64-49 lead. In the following minutes the Wolverines took advantage of the Bear Cubs' turnovers and put together an 8-0 run ending with a layup by Jalaysia Clement with 1:01 left. The Bear Cubs called a timeout and reinserted their starters, who were able to shut down the Wolverines for a 64-57 victory.
In their first four Big 8 contests the Bear Cubs struggled at the free throw line as they attempted a total of 43 and made just 21 of them (47%). In Rocklin six Bear Cubs combined to shoot 23 free throws and make 20 of them (87%) to help the team defeat the Wolverines. The Wolverines made 7 out of 9 (78%) from the free throw line. The Bear Cubs made 4 out of 12 (33%) 3-pointers, while the Wolverines took 25 of them, making 8 (32%). Brooklynn Nordquist, who scored 19 points, was the only Wolverine to reach double figures.
Jordan Washington led the Bear Cubs with 22 points and 8 rebounds. Caitlin Baldwin made three 3-pointers and one free throw for 10 points. Kaia Eubanks and Abby Tacla added 8 points each, Sydney Martin 7, Hailey Webb 4, Shasta Vlasak 3, and Elle Picard 2. Sydney Martin also grabbed 8 rebounds, while Kaia Eubanks and Abby Tacla each pulled down 6. Elle Picard passed for 4 assists.
