The Bear Cubs (11-2, 1-0) started 2026 action in Pleasant Hill against the Vikings (1-12, 0-2) of Diablo Valley College. Jordan Washington won the tipoff and 12 seconds later, Kaia Eubanks passed to her next to the hoop for the first two points of the contest. Consecutive steals by Eubanks and Elle Picard led to Washington's 3-footer off of Abby Tacla's assist and Tacla'slayup off of Washington's long pass. The Bear Cubs held the Vikings scoreless while they made five out of their next eight shots—Washington's 1-footer off of Caitlin Baldwin's assist, her putback, her steal and full-court layup, and two 3-pointers in a row by Hailey Webb—for an 18-0 advantage at the 4:59 mark. The Bear Cubs missed their next six shots until Anabel Arcillaswished a 3-pointer with 2:30 on the clock. Over a minute later, Athena Alkhoury drained a 3-pointer to get the Vikings on the scoreboard. The Bear Cubs were ahead 21-3 as the quarter ended.
Jordan Washington scored two baskets in a row on baseline inbounds passes from Elle Picard to start the scoring in the second quarter. Eighteen seconds later Athena Alkhoury drew a shooting foul and made both free throws. Neither team scored again until Amani Boxdell hit a 3-pointer at the 6:52 mark. Twenty seconds after that Caitlin Baldwin banked in a 2-footer off of Abby Tacla's pass across the key to start a 15-0 run on seven out of eight shooting that included Hailey Webb's1-footer off of Kaia Eubanks' assist, Eubanks' putback, Madyson Carson's 3-pointer, Washington's steal and full-court layup, Carson's 1-footer off of Washington's pass, and Hattie Piper's 1-footer after catching Carson's pass for a 40-8 lead at the 2:34 mark. With 22 seconds left Naomi Zurisadai Vidal hit a short shot. Caitlin Baldwin completed the scoring in the quarter when she snagged an offensive rebound just below the free throw line and sank the shot as the buzzer sounded, giving the Bear Cubs a 42-10 lead at halftime.
The Bear Cubs scored eight points in the first five minutes of the third quarter on Jordan Washington's 2-foot over the shoulder shot, Elle Picard's drive and reverse shot, Kaia Eubanks' drive from the top of the key, and two free throws by Washington. Amani Boxdell sank a 3-pointer with 5:11 on the clock. The Bear Cubs added seven unanswered points on Sydney Martin's 3-pointer, her 3-footer off of Madyson Carson's assist, and her putback to widen their lead to 57-13 at the 2:33 mark. Angeline Harris scored the Vikings' last two points of the period with 1:30 left. Anabel Arcilla was fouled on a drive and made both free throws with 1.8 seconds remaining to end the quarter with the Bear Cubs holding a 59-15 advantage.
Naomi Zurisadai Vidal took the Vikings' first shot of the fourth quarter and made the basket. The Bear Cubs put in three shots in a row—Sydney Martin's 1-footer off of Jordan Washington's assist, Caitlin Baldwin's 4-footer off of Abby Tacla's pass, and Washington's give-and-go play with Elle Picard at the 7:50 mark. Amani Boxdell scored the next five points on a 3-pointer and a field goal with 5:46 on the clock. On the Bear Cubs' next possession, Bennett Gaylord drove towards the hoop and tossed in a 4-footer while getting fouled. She missed the and-one free throw. The Vikings added five points on a basket each by Angeline Harris and Zurisadai Vidal, and Zurisadai Vidal's one of two free throws with 3:34 left. Hailey Webb was fouled on a shot and made one free throw. Athena Alkhoury swished a 3-pointer with 2:26 remaining. Kaia Eubanks hit two field goals in a row—an 8-footer off of Webb's assist and a 6-footer after a fake and reverse pivot—to get to 72-30 with 1:18 to go. The Vikings tallied three more points on Abena Yeboah's putback and one free throw by Zurisadai Vidal to outscore the Bear Cubs in the period 18-13. The Bear Cubs won by a final score of 72-33.
The Vikings only had seven players—one 5'8", one 5'9", and the rest 5'4" or 5'3"—so the Bear Cubs were able to score inside and outrebounded them 46-29. The Bear Cubs made 20 steals and passed for 20 assists. Amani Boxdell was the only Viking to reach double figures with 11 points.
