Erica Ruiz finished 4th overall this weekend at the SSU Invitational at Spring Lake, going head-to-head with some of the top four-year, division two, runners in California. Ruiz was able to finish the 6k course (1,000 meters further than a normal community college race) in a time of 22:38. Her time breaks down to a 6:04 mile pace, just two seconds per mile off her time when she ran the 5k at the Pat Ryan Invitational at Spring Lake two weeks prior. Ruiz leads the women’s cross country team who are currently ranked in the top 5 in northern California. The Bear Cubs travel to Salinas this Friday to compete at the NorCal Championship preview at Toro Park.
