With a small yet impressive roster, the SRJC women's team took 2nd place overall at the Big 8 Conference Championships, which they hosted for the first time in school history April 18-20. Meet highlights included SRJC winning 3 of the 5 relays (200 Free, 400 Medley, and 200 Medley), and winning 8 indivudal events as well.
Two Bear Cubs, Victoria Creaves and Stanislava Holzhauser, swept all three of their individual events and were named Co-Women' Swimmers of the Year. Freshman Creaves had a break out performance winning the 50 Free (24.71), the 100 Fly (59.23), and the 100 Free (53.80). Sophomore Holzhauser also swept all three of her individual events, for the 2nd year in a row, including the 500 Free (5:13.38), the 400 IM (4:49.72), and the 200 Fly (2:13.61). Freshman Madi West won both of the 100 Breast (1:04.54) and the 200 Breast (2:23.78), and took 2nd in the 100 Back (1:00.26). West also set a new school record in the first 50 of her 100 Breast with a time of 30.03. Creaves, Holzhauser, and West were also members of all three winning relays as well as on the 2nd place 800 Free Relay. Head Coach Jill McCormick was also named Big 8 Swimming Women's Coach of the Year.
Other standout performances included:
- Stella Clarkson: 6th in the 100 Fly, 2nd in the 1650 Free, and 6th in the 200 Fly
- Jasmine Greenlief-Gibbs: 2nd in the 1M and 5th in the 3M Diving
- Hannah Hoffman: 2nd in the 400 IM, 6th in the 100 Breast, and 3rd in the 200 Breast
- Hayley Prince: 3rd in the 50 Free and 7th in the 100 Free
- Rose Williams: 8th in the 500 Free, 6th in the 200 Free, and 6th in the 1650 Free
All of the above women will advance to the 2024 3C2A State Swimming and Diving Championshps, hosted by Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, May 2-4.
