Folsom Lake Faces Tough Challenge Against Santa Rosa
Folsom –The Folsom Lake College Falcons took to the diamond in a Big 8 conference doubleheader against the Santa Rosa Junior College Bear Cubs. This intense matchup unfolded on the Bear Cubs' home turf on Saturday, providing a stern test for the Falcons.
Game One Recap
In the opening contest, the Falcons battled hard against a formidable Santa Rosa lineup. Folsom Lake showed early promise as Aila Lyden's double to right-center drove in Marica Watson, giving them an early lead. However, Santa Rosa responded swiftly, capitalizing on opportunities to secure a 12-4 victory.
Despite a strong offensive effort from Folsom Lake, highlighted by key hits from Watson and Lyden, Santa Rosa's aggressive hitting proved decisive. The Bear Cubs' Mallory O'Keefe and Gabriela Schenone led the charge with multiple RBIs, powering their team to victory.
Game Two Recap
Undeterred by their game one defeat, the Falcons regrouped for the second matchup of the day. Despite facing a determined Santa Rosa squad, Folsom Lake showcased their resilience, fighting until the final out.
In game two, Folsom Lake's Aila Lyden delivered a solid performance on both sides of the ball, contributing with her bat and her pitching. Despite falling short, the Falcons managed to get on the scoreboard, with Lyden driving in Watson for their lone run of the game.
However, Santa Rosa's pitching proved to be a tough nut to crack, as Jessica Hernandez held the Falcons to just one run over seven innings. Despite their best efforts, the Falcons couldn't overcome Santa Rosa's early offensive surge, ultimately falling 6-1 in game two.
