With over two decades of coaching excellence, Jill McCormick has built SRJC Swimming & Diving into one of the most successful programs in California Community College athletics. Entering her 25th season, McCormick has guided the Bear Cubs to six 3C2A state championships, eight conference titles, and countless individual and team accolades, cementing SRJC as a top destination for student-athletes looking to compete, develop, and advance to the next level.

Under McCormick’s leadership, SRJC has become a consistent force at the state level:

  • Women’s Swim & Dive – Top 3 in the 3C2A 13 times, Top 5 19 times, and Top 10 22 times
  • Men’s Swim & Dive – Top 3 six times, Top 5 ten times, and Top 10 15 times
  • 100% State Championship Meet Qualification Rate throughout her coaching career

Her commitment to athlete development has resulted in:

  • 14 national champions and 65+ state and conference champions
  • 300+ All-Americans and 176 Academic All-Americans
  • 21 Conference Swimmers/Divers of the Year &
  • 4 3C2A State Swimmers/Divers of the Year, 6 state records, 34 conference meet records, and 107 school records shattered

Beyond the pool, McCormick is deeply invested in her athletes' academic and athletic futures, helping them transfer and succeed at NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA programs across the country.

A Passion for Coaching & Athlete Development

McCormick has been a driving force in California swimming for over 30 years, coaching at every level from club to high school to collegiate athletics. Before taking over the SRJC program in 2001, she coached at UC Davis, Santa Rosa Neptunes, and Piner High School, where she also taught English.

A former All-American backstroker, McCormick swam for Montgomery High School, SRJC, and UC Davis, where she was team captain, an All-Conference athlete, and an Academic All-American. She holds a Summa Cum Laude degree from UC Davis in English, along with a master’s degree in Education from UC Berkeley focused on athletes and academic achievement. An avid CrossFit athlete and occasional Masters swimmer, McCormick stays active in the sport she loves. A Santa Rosa native, she enjoys spending time with her husband Peter and sons Lucas and Jack, all of whom swam at the collegiate level.

Commitment to Excellence & Leadership

McCormick’s dedication to the sport extends beyond SRJC. She serves as the current 3C2A Swim & Dive Coaches Association President and is a WeCoach Academy graduate. She has been recognized as:

  • 7x 3C2A State Coach of the Year
  • 10x Big 8 Conference Coach of the Year

SRJC continues to thrive under McCormick’s leadership, with strong conference and state championship performances in recent seasons, including:

  • 12 Big 8 Conference Champions
  • 4 Big 8 Swimmers of the Year
  • 2 Individual State Champions
  • Top 4 team finishes at the 3C2A State Championships
