SRJC Women's Cross Country is ranked 2nd in the first Northern California Coaches Poll of the season. The team comprised of Anna Drake-Tripp, Gracie Issel, Jocelyn Mobley, Erica Ruiz, Kaylee Seekon, and Meaghan Woody finished second at the Beat the Heat Invitational at College of the Redwoods on August 29th behind a strong Hartnell squad, who are ranked number 1. "It's always great to be recognized by the other coaches in northern California," said Coach Wellman. "We have a young team, but we run in packs, which makes us very difficult to beat."

Commenting on the recognition, assistant coach Mike Wortman said, "It just shows the respect that this program has gotten over the years. We are not just another team, we're a team that people are paying attention to."

Sophomore Ruiz said, "It's a strong and stable team even though we are mostly freshmen." Impressed by the teams ability to work together and race in packs, Ruiz hinted,  "We're the small team that nobody sees coming, but now they know, and that's really exciting."
