Program History

Santa Rosa Junior College Women's Cross Country is a team on the rise. With a new coaching staff, a new look, and a new crop of local talent, SRJC Women's Cross Country looks to put its mark on CCCAA distance running.

Led by coaches David Wellman and Mike Wortman, the Bear Cubs are beginning to return to the quality program they once had following a breakout season that saw the Bear Cubs take second in both the Big 8 Conference Championships and the NorCal Regional Championships.

Our number one goal here at SRJC is to develop the student-athletes academically and physically so that they are able to transfer to a four-year university that allows them to flourish as a student and an athlete. We do this giving our athletes the one-on-one attention that young runners need to develop into top tier college athletes. With this individualized focus, our athletes grow to be strong and consistent runners. SRJC cross country competes in the Big 8 Conference. This is arguably one of the most competitive conferences in the CCCAA system.

This year SRJC Cross Country will compete against a number of community colleges from the north as well as a few four-year universities. We will be striving to continue to build on our record of qualifying a full team to the CCCAA State Championships. The SRJC Women's Cross Country Team has qualified for state three years in a row. If you are interested in competing for SRJC Women's Cross Country, please contact coach David Wellman at dwellman@santarosa.edu.
