Women's Water Polo goes 3-0 on weekend, improve to 7-1 overall.

Bear Cubs go 3-0 on weekend, Improve to 7-1 overall.

The SRJC Women's Water Polo team reeled off three consecutive wins en route to a 3-0 weekend performance. First up, the Bear Cubs visited Foothill College for a Friday night showdown. Santa Rosa started off strong, opening up a 10-1 halftime lead, holding on for a 15-4 win. Goalie Shannon Whetzel led the defense with nine saves and three steals, while sophomores Annika Erickson and Maggie Selzer paced the offense with six and five goals. Freshman Makayla Jordan scored four goals as well. 

On Saturday, SRJC traveled to Cabrillo College for two games against Diablo Valley and Cuesta. The Bear Cubs stormed to a 10-1 halftime lead against Diablo Valley, before coasting to a 12-6 victory. Erickson and Jordan led the team with six and five goals respectively, while Selzer chipped in one goal to round out the scoring.

Santa Rosa capped off their 3-0 weekend with a 12-7 win over Cuesta College. The Bear Cubs, who jumped out a 7-1 halftime advantage, and a 10-3 3rd quarter lead, received a more balanced scoring attack, as five different players scored multiple goals. Erickson led the way with four goals, while sophomore Bianca Boyajian, freshman Jacquelyn Castro, Jordan, and Selzer each recorded two goals. Goalie Whetzel recorded seven blocks.

The Bear Cubs are back in action with a conference game at Sacramento City College on Wednesday 9/27 at 2:30 p.m.
