Bear Cubs travel to Foothill College in tournament play to dominate all four wins

The Bear Cubs traveled to Foothill College Friday, October 14th to start tournament play against Cabrillo, Merced, West Valley, and Ohlone Colleges. The Bear Cubs would have a solid weekend with four great performances. In the first match against Cabrillo College, the Bear Cubs would score sixteen goals to a Cabrillo three. Ten goals came from Annika Erickson, Four goals for Maggie Selzer, Bianca Boyajian and Logan Amadon would pick-up one each. Goalkeeper Shannon Whetzel would pick-up four assists to dominate the Bear Cubs win.

The second game of the tournament against Merced would be a tight finish for the Bear Cubs. The first quarter, the Bear Cubs would score all five goals coming from four different players. The Second quarter, Merced would gain momentum and would score five goals to the Bear Cub two. In the third and fourth quarter, both Merced and SRJC would score four goals each, making the final score eleven to nine. Shannon Whetzel would have eight saves and one assist in the game to secure the Bear Cub win as the final whistle blew.

Saturday, October 15th the Bear Cubs would face West Valley and Ohlone College. The match against West Valley would end in the Bear Cub favor as they dominated in the pool together, picking-up an eleven to three win. Annika Erickson would score seven goals, Maggie Selzer and Logan Amadon would score one each and Julia Kennedy would score two. Raquel Castro would pick-up four assists, six shots, and three steals. Shannon Whetzel would come up big in the cage with fourteen saves.

In the last game of the tournament, the Bear Cubs faced Ohlone College. The Bear Cubs gave an all-around, solid performance to secure the last win of the tournament. The Bear Cubs opened with five goals in the first quarter. Ohlone would only score in the first quarter and take the lead, scoring eight. In the second quarter, the Bear Cubs would come back from the five-eight deficit and would score the ten remaining goals of the game. Annika Erickson would score ten goals in the game, Julia Kennedy would score three, Maggie Selzer and Gabi Edman would pick-up one each. Goalkeeper Shannon Whetzel picked-up five more assists and seven saves to send the Bear cubs home with four straight wins.
