Ally Sather – Head Coach – 7^th Season

Ally Sather enters her seventh year at the helm of SRJC Volleyball. Sather is a full-time faculty member in the Kinesiology, Athletics, and Dance Department and is an alumna of Maria Carrillo High School. During her prep career, she earned numerous honors, culminating in the All-Empire MVP award in her senior year.

For her collegiate career, Sather stayed close to home, competing at Sonoma State University as an outside hitter. She was a four-time All-CCAA performer and a two-time All-Region honoree. Sather broke the career kill record at SSU, a record that had stood for fourteen years before her arrival. She also currently holds the record for most kills by a freshman at SSU. In her senior year, Sather was selected to the AVCA All-American Team.

Sather has also coached with Empire Volleyball Club for twelve seasons. In 2013, she returned to her alma mater, Maria Carrillo, to take over as head coach of the Puma varsity program. During her five seasons with the Pumas, they won four North Bay League Championships and made an appearance at NCS each year. In 2014, Sather was honored as the All-Empire Coach of the Year and was nominated for the Press Democrat’s “Best High School Coach” award in 2015.

Since taking over the Bear Cub program, Sather has improved SRJC’s standing in the competitive Big 8 Conference, including a 4th place finish in 2023. She has produced five 1st Team All-Conference players and six 2nd Team All-Conference players, while continuing to build the competitive volleyball scene in Santa Rosa.
