SRJC Volleyball is off to a great start this season with a 4-0 record after their first week of play. The Bear Cubs opened at home against College of the Redwoods and San Jose City College on the 2nd of September showing confidence and control throughout the matches. Sophomore setter Emily Bonfigli led her team with 61 assists for both matches. Sophomores Paula Clarey and Tori Garzoli also added 33 kills total to help their team to victory.

On Saturday, the 5th of September, the Bear Cubs traveled to Reedley College for a four team tournament including De Anza and Alameda colleges. SRJC quickly defeated Alameda College, and went on to play Reedley College, who beat De Anza earlier in the day. This afternoon match was a battle for a first place finish in the tournament. SRJC accomplished the victory in four sets, dropping the first one 19-25 but taking the next three 25-9, 25-16 and 25-22. Bonfigli had a total of 68 assists for the day, and Garzoli added 22 kills and 4 aces. Freshman You Nara helped her team with 13 digs and 5 aces, and freshman Sharyah Benjamin added 14 kills and 4 digs. It was an awesome first week for the Bear Cubs, and now they are preparing for this weekend's challenge at the Delta Classic tournament in Stockton. Go Bear Cubs!
