Collegiate Bests and Personal Records Highlight the SRJC Women's Track Team at De Anza Open

The SRJC women traveled to De Anza to compete in their first meet of the season. With the distance runners taking the week off and the heptathletes already competing earlier in the week, the Bear Cubs roster was down to three. Jordan Codding, Courtney Rhoda, and Daisey Villegas held their own and were able to score a total of 10 points and place 8th.  Codding got the meet started off in the Pole Vault with a vault of 2.52m (8'3"), a jump good enough for third place. Freshman Rhoda also had a great day full of collegiate personal records in the throws. Rhoda threw 8.57m (28'1") in the Shot Put, 23.74m (77'10") in the Discus and 28.90m (24'9") in the Hammer. Hitting three collegiate personal records, Villegas threw 9.39m (30'9") in the shot, 30.30m (99'4") in the Discus and reached the provisional mark in the Hammer throw with a toss of 38.44m (126'1").

The Bearcubs will travel with a full squad to compete against the top teams in Northern California at the Beaver Relays at American River College Next Saturday.
