Bear Cubs take First in the Big 8 Conference and give DVC the first loss of the season

The Bear Cubs dominated play at home against rival Diablo Valley College Friday, October 14th. The first goal came in the twelfth minute for the Bear Cubs. Midfielder Megan Stavish would flick the ball with her head onto a run being made by Amanda Galbraith up the center of the field. Goalkeeper Katie McLaughlin would come out of the box and hesitate as Galbraith tapped the ball into the back of the net beating McLaughlin on her left side.

Diablo Valley would strike back while taking a corner kick. In the thirty-fifth minute Noelle Lemos would battle in the box to find the back of the Bear Cub net. Just as the second half would end, Kaleigh Alves would find Galbraith again. This time Alves would take the ball down the field and cross it to a wide open Galbraith in front of McLaughlin's net. Galbraith would again beat Mclaughlin on her left side and put the Bear Cubs up 2-0 at half.

The second half was a battle to keep the lead. Diablo Valley would have a couple more chances to tie, but would get caught up in mostly concentrating on Galbraith. Goalkeeper Ally Milone would step up in the second have and secure the Bear Cub win with four saves. The Bear Cubs had a solid team performance and would defend their home turf giving Diablo Valley their first loss of the season.

The Bear Cubs will travel to Folsom Lake College on Tuesday, October 18th and play at 3:30pm
