Fred enters his 1st season as Interim Head Wrestling Coach for the Bear Cubs. He is a familiar face around athletics where he assisted now retired Hall of Fame Head Coach, Jake Fitzpatrick for 6 years. Fred is also an associate instructor in the Kinesiology, Athletics, and Dance Department.

In high school Fred was a two-sport athlete earning him All-Empire honors in football and wrestling. He was also a member of Team California’s Freestyle Wrestling team from 2003-2008.

Duerr began his coaching career at Montgomery High School as an assistant for 7 years before joining his alma mater, the Santa Rosa Junior College Bear Cubs. He played football and wrestled at SRJC where he was a two-time Medalist at the CCCAA State Championships and Manuel Gorrarian award winner.

Coach Duerr continued to pursue his education at San Francisco State University where he completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology. He earned a Master’s Degree from Fresno Pacific University in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Physical Education and Coaching and he also holds a California Single Subject Teaching Credential in Physical Education from Alliant University.

In his free time, Coach Duerr enjoys working out, snowboarding, wakeboarding, riding dirt bikes and UTV's, camping, and traveling.
