Bear Cub Wrestlers Currently Rank in the State's Top 8

The SRJC Wrestling team wrapped up the dual meet season last Friday with a 33-23 decision over Chabot College to move to 2-2 in the Coast Conference. The Bear Cubs finished the dual meet season with an 8-4 record and a third place finish in the Northern California Dual Meet Championships.
On November 21st, the bear cubs will compete in the Coast Conference Tournament. Saturday, December 5th, SRJC will host the Northern California Regionals. The top six placers in each weight class qualify for the State Championships, December 11-12, at Fresno City College.
Top competitors for the cubs heading into the post-season are as follows: Sophomore Team Captain, Fred Duerr who is 16-2 with 10 pins and is ranked 3rd in State at 197 lbs. Taryn Christiansen is also 16-2 and leads the team with 11 pins to date. Christiansen is ranked 7th in State at 174 lbs. Jhaylyn Hall is 14-5 with 9 pins at 184 lbs and is 5th in the state rankings. Tyler Poalillo has 9 falls and is currently ranked 8th at 133 lbs. Bear cubs with an honorable mention in the state rankings are sophomores Robert Smith at 141 lbs. and Quintton Bowlds at 285 lbs. SRJC is currently ranked 3rd in the Coast Conference, 4th in the north regional, and 8th in State.
