After losing two close games by a total of four points in their own tournament, the Bear Cubs were hoping to turn things around at the City College of San Francisco Tournament beginning with their first opponent, the San Diego City College Knights. Amber Hart got off to a good start by scoring the first three field goals of the game, including an offensive rebound putback. Sarah Arteseros scored the next time down for the Bear Cubs. Following one missed shot, the Bear Cubs jumped out to a 14-0 lead after Brooke Santander hit two 3-pointers in a row, prompting a San Diego timeout with 15:05 on the clock. The Knights responded with five unanswered points. The Bear Cubs regrouped and after Brittney Rachuy scored five points in a row, the Bear Cubs were ahead 23-7 with 8:57 left. The Bear Cubs continued to shoot well, including a 3-pointer by Taylor Graham and two more by Brooke Santander, to extend their lead to 42-19 at the end of the half.

            The Bear Cubs started the second half with the ball and Alicia Mehtlan sank a 3-pointer. The Knights scored a field goal on their first possession and continued to trade baskets with the Bear Cubs. By the midway juncture of the half, the Bear Cubs were ahead 62-38. The Bear Cubs finished the game by outscoring their opponents by four points to claim a 74-46 victory.

            The Bear Cubs made 50% (17 out of 34) of their shots in the first half, including 5 out of 11 from 3-point range. In the second half the shooters cooled off, making 13 out of 34 (38%) of their shots.

            Brooke Santander came off the bench to lead the Bear Cubs in scoring with 14 points after making all four of her 3-point shots in the first half then adding a field goal in the second half. Jenna Dunbar and Amber Hart each scored 10 points. Niambi Saint Louis moved into the starting lineup for the first time and scored 9 points and was the top rebounder with 10. Taylor Graham added 8 points, Alicia Mehtlan 7, Brittney Rachuy and Sarah Arteseros 6 each, and Vai Thompson 4. Jenna Dunbar led in steals with 4 and Taylor Graham in assists with 4.

            The Bear Cubs, who have evened their record at 5-5, next take on the host Rams who hold a record of 7-3 and defeated their first round opponent 70-46.
