Men's Track Opens with First Multi-Event Meet of the Season

The Bear Cubs traveled up to Chico to compete in the first multi-event meet of the season. Returners David Hernandez and Gideon Halpin had an amazing start to their season, putting up solid marks and personal records. First-timer Jay Garcia, got his feet wet in his first full decathlon, hitting five personal bests over the 10 events. Gideon Halpin, hit a monster NorCal qualifying mark in the Javelin, throwing over 9 meters further than his previous personal best. His mark of 51.93 (107 feet) was one of the highlights of the meet. David Hernandez put together a tidy decathlon scoring a total of 5618 points, David easily hit the State Qualifying Standard.

The rest of the men's track team will be traveling to Cupertino Saturday for the De Anza Invitation.
