Men's Swimming Wins 5 Big 8 Titles and Qualifies 7 to the State Championships

SRJC men's swimming finished 4th overall in the Big 8 Swimming Championships last weekend.

Highlights included Drew Sipple winning the 500 Free, taking second in the 200 Fly, and successfully defending his 2016 conference title winning the Mile again by nearly a 30 second margin.

Teammate Bradley-John Erickson was also a double winner in the 200 IM and the 100 Breast and was the runner-up in the 200 Breast.  Team captain R.J. Williams won the 100 Fly and took 2nd in the 50 Free, and 4th in the 100 Free.

Sipple, Erickson and Williams combined their talents with freshman Grant Howell to take 2nd place finishes in both the 800 and 400 Free Relays as well as another top three finish in the 400 Medley as well. 

Howell had a spectacular meet as an individual as well posting personal bests in all three of his events finishing 6th in the 500 Free, 3rd in the 400 IM, and 4th in the 1650 Free.

All four of these athletes have received First Team All Conference honors and have qualified for the CCCAA State Swimming Championships, hosted by East LA College, next week, May 4-6.
