Men's Swim & Dive 2015 Season Preview

After a third place finish at the CCCAA State Championships last season, the Bear Cubs are prepped and ready to officially begin their 2015 season. 

The SRJC men will be led by team captains and returning All Americans backstroker Ben Crabb and freestyler Tom Franicevich, as well as breaststroker Bowen Brooks and butterfly Omar Saldivar. Key newcomers to watch include swimmers IMer Nathan Boas from Livermore, distance freestyler Brandon Miguel from Vallejo, breaststroker Jesse Schmidt from Novato, and sprinter Franklin Manolio from Arizona.  The cubs are also excited for the debut of freshman diver Desmond Woodward from Napa.
In her 15th year at the helm of this program, head coach, Jill McCormick said, "We will be looking to strong sophomore leadership in the pool this year.  Our men's team has trained with a high level of discipline in the off-season and are ready to reap what they have sown in 2015." 
In the final CCCAA State Championship rankings, SRJC has finished in the top five, eight out of the last 11 seasons, and they have finished in the top 10, 10 out of the last 11 years. During that time they have also captured four Big 8 Conference titles and have finished 2nd four times.
 
The Bear Cubs will open their competition season at home when they host the NorCal Relays Meet on Saturday February 7th at 11am. They will also be hosting a dual meet against Sierra College on March 21st.
