Behind the dominant pitching of Alec Rennard, the Santa Rosa JC baseball team defeated visiting Folsom Lake 10-4 on Saturday and forced an elimination game Sunday in the CCCAA Super Regionals.

The top-seeded Bear Cubs and No. 14 Falcons will play for the right to advance in the state tournament at noon Sunday at Sypher Field.

In Saturday's game, Rennard struck out 11. The former Maria Carrillo star fanned the first three batters he faced and allowed only three hits through eight innings.

Meanwhile, the Folsom Lake pitchers were having trouble finding the strike zone. The visiting staff walked six and hit four batters. Santa Rosa also stole seven bases and each of those runners scored.

The Bear Cubs got off to a quick start with two runs in the first and two more in the second. In the opening inning, Ryder Kuhns knocked in two with a single and then in the second, Jake Scheiner came up with a pair of RBIs with a two-out base hit.

The home team finished with 14 hits, three by both Kuhns and Scheiner. Zach Hall, Myles Andrews and Bryce Nagata each had two hits.

Santa Rosa will take a 32-8 record into the elimination game while Folsom Lake is 26-14.
