They're back! Falcons top Santa Rosa in straight sets to halt losing streak

The Folsom Lake volleyball team, mired in a five-match losing streak, finally broke through to win the opening set on Friday night - they'd lost 13 straight sets during the losing streak - and went on to defeat Santa Rosa in three sets at FLC, 28-26, 25-17, 27-25.  Not only was it a much-needed win for the Falcons, but provided some redemption for the October loss at Santa Rosa when they won the first two sets, then lost three straight.  The first set victory didn't come easily as both teams had a couple chances serving for set point.  But once they'd won that first set, it was clear a burden was lifted and the Falcons played the next two sets with a much looser approach.

Freshman middle hitter Olivia Rush sparked the victory with several big-time kills on short sets in the middle.  Freshman Abby Seabury stepped in for sophomore Taylar Schafer, who was out of the lineup with a knee injury, and looked right at home as outside hitter.  Mide Agbi-Davies also made several blocks and kills from her middle blocker position.

The Falcons (14-11 overall, 7-7 in Big 8) have two conference matches remaining; at home against Diablo Valley (3-18 overall, 0-14 Big 8) and at Cosumnes River (12-15 overall, 4-11 Big 8) on Tuesday.
