The 2021-22 City College of San Francisco women's basketball season got off to a winning start as the Rams defeated Santa Rosa Junior College on the road by a final score of 51-49 on Thursday night.

CCSF trailed 17-12 after the first quarter but outscored Santa Rosa 15-9 in the second to take a 27-26 lead at halftime. The two teams went into the fourth tied at 39 but the Rams were able to pull off the narrow win.

San Francisco was able to overcome a rough night shooting as the Rams made just 16 of 53 shots. Three-point shooting proved to be the difference as the Rams sank five 3s in the contest compared to just one by the Bear Cubs.

Freshman Amira Lama scored a game-high 12 points, including a pair of three-pointers, in her collegiate debut to lead CCSF. Returning sophomore Roberta Tasi came off the bench to score seven points and led the Rams with seven rebounds.

San Francisco returns to action on Tuesday (Nov. 9) when the Rams travel to Solano College for a 3 p.m. non-conference game.
