Hawks Earn 13th Win Behind Eigenberger's 11 Kills

Sacramento, CA - Cosumnes River College hosted conference opponent Santa Rosa Junior College in a battle for 4th place in the Big 8 Conference. After two close sets, the Hawks pulled away in the third set and finished strong in the fourth set to earn their 13th victory on the season (25-22, 20-25, 25-12, 25-21). The Hawk offense was led by Emma Eigenberger's 11 kills and Aija Redding's 10 kills. Miah Williamson (8 kills), and Julia Zamfir (6 kills) helped carry the offense for CRC. The Hawks combined to hit .205 on the match, while holding the Bear Cubs to .072. Grace Maddock tallied 18 assists while picking up another double-double on the season, her 5th. Giovanna Parino added 16 assists and was two digs shy of a double double. Aija Redding kept the Bear Cubs off balance with 5 service aces, half of the Hawk's 10 total aces. 

Three Hawks tied for the lead with 11 digs, Aija Redding, Kenzie Nies, and Grace Maddock. Victoria Espinoza and Giovanna Parino both tallied 8 digs to help stifle the offense for Santa Rosa. The front row for the Hawks continued to play above the net with 14 blocks (2 solo and 12 assisted). Miah Williamson set the tone with 1 solo and 5 assisted blocks, followed by Maddy Motta's 4 assisted blocks. Defense helped limit the Bear Cubs to a .072 hitting percentage with only one hitter achieving double digits. 

Up Next - The Hawks (13-7) look to carry this momentum into the second half as they head to San Joaquin Delta College (10-5) to take on the Mustangs for the second time this year. In the last match up, CRC struggled to find their rhythm in the first match of conference. Limited fans are allowed in attendance at San Joaquin Delta College. The match will begin at 6:30 pm and will be streamed via the team's social media platform.
