SRJC Men's Tennis Stays Hot: Rolls to 11-0 overall, 4-0 conference

Thursday, March 5th, the Bear Cubs Men's Tennis team continued their undefeated streak advancing to 11-0 overall and 4-0 in conference play.

Faced with a tough challenge from last year's conference runner ups in Folsom Lake, the Bear Cubs took care of business early winning all 3 doubles lines. From there, big help in singles play from local players in Justin Richter, Ryan Leung, and Jim Klyce, this resilient team never looked back and controlled the match to win it 8-1. Freshman Justin Richter acknowledged that the experience has been a great transition from competing against one another to battling on the same team. Justin's former high school rival, Jim Jay Klyce, is now his doubles partner and together they have strongly represented SRJC as a tandem that demonstrates the new era of homegrown Sonoma County tennis.

"Each player positively contributes to the team in some way and I'm glad to be a part of an amazing squad," said Jim Jay Klyce.

Though many of these Bear Cubs Men's Tennis teammates have competed with or against each other at some point in their young lives, what matters most is their adaptability and comradery to unite on the same team and understand that even though they were once respectable foes, now they are teammates, and the talents they have together have an ability to combine to an incredible force. But there are going to be heat checks along the way. Despite the wins, the SRJC players hold themselves to the highest standard – win or lose. Freshman Ryan Leung kept praises high, saying, "I value tennis etiquette over results of our team matches. I think my team respects this to a high degree and that alone is enough to represent SRJC in the highest manner possible."
